The Foxpop Masstagging Guide
How-to with screenshots for automated id3 masstagging with foobar2000.
Nov 2006
1. Install and setup foobar2000
Install foobar2000 and the columns ui component:
- foobar2000 0.9.x: www.foobar2000.org
- ColumnsUI component: yuo.be/columns.php
Use winrar or winace to uncompress foo_uie_console-_._.7z.
Then copy the foo_uie_console.dll into c:\Program files\foobar2000\components\.
- Optional components (for power tips only):
foo_run
coverdownloader
Album Art Aggregator
Set up ColumnsUI for mass tagging:
Add the variables File, Directory, Path and Path_sort to the ColumnsUI interface.
- File\Preferences\Display\Columns UI\Playlist view\Columns [tab]
- On the right, click New to add a new item into the Column list.
Enter the following labels (Columns) and variables (Display)
Filename - %FILENAME_EXT%
Directoryname - %DIRECTORYNAME%
Path_sort - %PATH_SORT%
Genre - %GENRE%
- Switch to Tabs: View\Layout\Playlist tabs or
File\Preferences\Display\ColumnsUI\Layout\Presets, choose Playlist Tabs.
- In the playlist window, right click on the column headers, and turn on all of them.
- By dragging, arrange to map the following order:
Directory name | Artist | Album | Date | Genre | T. | Title | Filename | Length | path_sort
- Finally, turn on the volume control button: Right Click on the playback button\Toolbars\Volume

This is how the columns should look. By clicking on a column header, you can sort by that field.

Switch to Playlist tabs to gain screen area.

Enter the fields for the new columns.
